Translational Genomics. The Genomics program at Saficor involves several components: (1) Identifying genetic variants in the human population. (2) Determining the association of the above genetic variants with disease. (3) Establishing the association of genetic variants with patient responses to drugs particularly chemotherapeutic agents. (4) Developing proprietary therapies that will enhance a patient's response to drugs.

Anti-cancer Drug Discovery. Using proprietary algorithms our scientists have identified hundreds of active anti-cancer compounds with low or no toxicity. These compounds have been screened against cells, tumor spheroids and animal tumors. Some have exhibited phenomenal efficacy in human studies. Stem Cell Research. Our scientists are focusing on two aspects of stem cell technology: (1) growing embryonic stem cells without the requirement for a cell feeder layer. This breakthrough in stem cell research will enable the use of stem cells in the clinic without the worry of contamination. (2) Deriving stem cells from adult tissues. This method would allow for the derivation of stem cells from a patients own tissue eliminating the risk of rejection.
